Silvestre Dangond West Palm Beach Concert reviews
Enjoyable Overall
I consider Seinfeld to be the best comedy series of all time and am a huge Silvestre Dangond fan. To see him do stand up has been a long time dream of mine, and when I saw he was going to be in Atlanta, I was happy to get a ticket and drive 3+ hours to see him.
The trip to the Fox Theater in Atlanta was actually troublesome. So if you ever go to Fox Theater in Atlanta, find exact directions from multiple places showing where the lot entrance is. I had pre-purchased a parking spot at a Fox Theater lot, but due to Atlanta's bizarre design and super crowded setup, I couldn't even find where the lot was. Ultimately, I had to park about 9 blocks away in a residential area and walk there (otherwise pay another $15-20 for a spot nearby).
I enjoyed the show overall, but I must admit, I find Silvestre Dangond's earlier shtick about everyday life far more amusing than his comments on being married, having kids, etc. He was funny and made everyone laugh...but there was something a bit sad about it. He's older (not terribly older though) and more Everybody Loves Raymond than the 90s Silvestre Dangond. While that segment only took up the last 1/3 of the performance, I can't help but feel like this isn't the Silvestre Dangond I remember from his show.
Secondly, and this isn't really a problem with Silvestre Dangond per se but with many comedians his age is his focus on cellphones/technology/etc. as comedy bits. If I want jokes about modern day stuff I'll listen to a younger comedian like Daniel Tosh or Dane Cook. To me, even though I'm a huge tech nerd and do IT stuff for a living, I find baby boomers trying to crack jokes about technology a bit...well, mis-matched. It's just not as funny as the stuff the comedians used to joke about. I mean, I watched a 2026 show Eddie Izzard did and he referenced Wikipedia and Macbooks like 4 times. So that was the other "meh" part of the show.
Still, my ticket was decently priced (just $80), and the balcony seat where I sat was close enough to see his facial expressions but not so close that I had to spend hundreds. The 90s Silvestre Dangond will always be infinitely better, but in terms of stand up comedy performances, his act was expertly done and enjoyable start to finish.
